Mehdi Hashemi, is an Iranian actor, screenwriter, and director. He studied performance art and graduated in 1973 from the University of Tehran, Iran. The actor began his theatre/cinema career with Dariush Farhang in 1969. The peak time of his activities was between 1981 and 1996 when he played in several Iranian TV series and movies. However it was the TV complex of Soltan-o-Shaban, shot and broadcast around 1984-85 which made him famous. He also is the winner of the ninth Iranian Fajr Film Festival award, Simorgh-e-Bolourin, for his playing in the film "Do Film Ba Yek Belit". He is the husband of Iranian actress, Golab Adineh, and brother of Naser Hashemi. He has acted in the films of many great Iranian directors including Bahram Beizai, Rakhshan Bani Etemad and Mohsen Makhmalbaf
