Jean Parédès a commencé sa carrière dans la chanson et l'opéra-comique. Il a appartenu à la troupe Renaud-Barrault et joué dans de nombreuses comédies, dont La Vie parisienne et La Cuisine des anges. Préférant le théâtre au cinéma, où il était catalogué parmi les comiques, il avait participé à une centaine de films, dont Jacques le Fataliste, L'Assassinat du Père Noël et Fanfan la Tulipe. Il est enterré dans son village natal de Pusignan (Rhône)
