Herbert Jefferson Jr. is an African-American film, television, and stage actor. Raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, he graduated with honors from New York's American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1969. He is probably best known for his role as Lieutenant Boomer on the original Battlestar Galactica television series. Later, in the 1980 spin-off Galactica 1980, his character had moved up in the chain of command toExecutive Officer of the Galactica. He starred in Rich Man, Poor Man and Rich Man, Poor Man Book II. Jefferson appeared in the pilot episode of Knight Rider as Munsie, an undercover police officer and partner of Michael Long. He later played a news reporter in the Ron Howard film, Apollo 13 and as a doctor in Wolfgang Petersen's Outbreak. In 2007 he played Captain Gault, a freedom fighter, in the Star Trek internet mini series Of Gods and Men
