Born as Govindaraju Gangaraju, Dr. Hamsalekha is a music director and lyricist, screen play and dialogue writer in the South Indian Film Industry, prominently the Kannada film industry. He has composed music for more than 300 feature films and has written lyrics for about the same number. He has also composed for Tamil and Telugu films. His popularity in the Kannada music industry rose with his tunes and lyrics in the film Premaloka. His mother tongue is Kannada and his hometown is Mysore, India. He has won 6 Filmfare Awards for Best Music Director Category
