Frank Krog startet som scenearbeider og statist ved Den Nationale Scene i Bergen i 1969, men flyttet senere til Oslo der han gikk på Teaterhøgskolen. Han gikk ut fra Teaterhøgskolen i 1979, og ble kjent over hele landet med roller i filmene Hard Asfalt (1986), Brun bitter og Blücher (begge 1988)
