"Oyuki, the Virgin" is based on Kawaguchi Matsutaro's adaptation of Maupassant's "Boule de Suifâ? "Lump of Fat,â? also the inspiration for Ford's Stagecoach. To this story Mizoguchi added some of his own elements.
