Ishtam is a remake of the Telugu film Yemaindi Ee Vela (2010) which starred Varun Sandesh and Nisha Agarwal. Prem Nizar, a former associate of Billa 2 Director Chakri Toleti, has directed the film. Ishtam is a movie about today's youngsters and their love life, marriage and the causes that force them to separate. Saravanan (Vimal), Sandhya (Nisha Agarwal) look for their second marriage alliances. Saravananan's first alliance is Nimisha (Parvati Nirban) and Sandhya's first is Yuva (Anoop Kumar). Their story is presented as a flashback and it is all about how they met, loved, married and broke up!
