A long-gestated, provocative but somewhat disorganized diatribe against the technical abuses made to movies when they transfer to TV, vet Catalan helmer Carlos Benpar's "Filmmakers vs. Tycoons" reps both absorbing viewing for film purists and a slap on the wrist for those who believe that acquiring a movie means buying the right to modify it. Featuring an impressive assortment of witnesses for the prosecution both living (Berlanga, Donen, Forman, Pollack) and dead (Lancaster, Huston, Fellini), shamelessly partisan docu deserves exposure in fest sidebars and (if possible) on the very tube channels whose policies it's attacking.
